NamSeoul, A&M-Commerce Celebrate Partnership

COMMERCE, Texas (Jan. 19, 2012)—Representatives from NamSeoul University in Seoul, South Korea and Texas A&M University-Commerce met on campus January 19 to celebrate the partnership between the two universities.

The partnership was formed in June 2011 thanks to the collaborative efforts of Dr. Kenneth Clinton, associate vice president of global initiatives; Dr. Larry Lemanski, provost and vice president of academic affairs; Dr. Dan Jones, university president, and the academic deans.

Starting this summer, NamSeoul students will have the opportunity to enroll in a 2+2 degree program that will allow them to study two years in Korea, followed by two years at A&M-Commerce to complete their degree.

Future plans are also in the works to allow A&M-Commerce Regents Scholars to visit NamSeoul University during the summer to fulfill their study abroad requirements.

“Today’s meeting confirmed in writing the details of our partnership with NamSeoul,” Clinton said. “Partnering with well respected universities like NamSeoul ensures that their students and ours will graduate prepared to live and succeed in our dynamic global society.”

This celebratory meeting comes on the heels of another momentous, globalization effort that brought 150 Korean students from Konkuk University to A&M-Commerce for the spring semester. These students are a part of a 1+3 program, and will spend the next three years attending classes on campus.
