34.02.99.R1 Drug Free Workplace and Campus Rule

Effective: September 1, 1996

Supplements System Policy: Systems Policy 34.02

1. The purpose of this rule is to implement System Policy 34.02, to assure the health and safety of students and to comply with the federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1984, the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 and other legislation.

2. The definitions contained in System Policy 34.02, Paragraph 2 are hereby adopted and incorporated into this Rule.

3. The President of the University shall annually appoint members to a standing committee, the Alcohol and Drug Education Task Force. This committee shall monitor and facilitate the implementation of the programs set forth herein. It shall conduct a biennial review of the University’s drug and alcohol abuse prevention program as required by System policy 34.02, Paragraph 3.4.

4. Employees are expected to be fit for duty any time they are reporting for work or otherwise carrying out University business.

5. The unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession or use of a controlled substance or alcohol on campus or while conducting University business off campus is absolutely prohibited. Violations of this rule will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
