Bartow + Metzgar (March 3-7)

Bartow + Metzgar will be Artists in Residence in the Department of Art, March 3-7, 2008. Paul Bartow and Richard Metzgar have been collaborating as artists since 1999. Recent exhibitions include Corrupture at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, Buffalo, NY; Colloquiseum, a project for Sculpture at Evergreen, Evergreen House, the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD; Soft Space: an assemblage by Bartow + Metzgar, Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, PA; Interlubricious: The Work of Bartow + Metzgar, Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, Grand Rapids, MI; and Synergy (Bartow + Metzgar: Archi-flage), The Arts Center of the Capital Region, Troy, NY.

Bartow + Metzgar will conduct a creative research project that investigates the Urban. They will develop and utilize processes that include experimental drawing practices, mapping systems, and invented methodologies that will lead to the creation of a research space/installation, directives for collection walks, an organizational scheme for a collection archive, and visual documents related to research and analysis. Bartow + Metzgar welcome collaborative assistance as the project unfolds. They are interested in working with people from all disciplines. Students and other interested individuals are invited to participate in this project.

The project will culminate in an installation in The University Gallery that will open to the public on Tuesday, March 11, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. The exhibition will continue through March 28.
