- Bill Martin Jr Memorial Symposium
Bill Martin Jr Memorial Symposium
Join us in Commerce on Friday, May 7, 2010 for a fun in the Texas sun as we learn about letters with Jerry Pallotta and José-Luis Orozco!
Jerry Pallotta brings a playful spin on a practical subject: the ALPHABET! Look at his work www.JerryPallotta.com, exploring the worlds of animals, construction equipment, fractions, things living and long-since dead. His keynote speech with start our day of language and literacy. We also offer breakout sessions over topics of interest to classroom teachers of all levels, most presented by classroom teachers, and a number of our own EDCI graduates. The Sam Rayburn Student Center is prepared to host you in this day of professional development by an international author and local practitioners, a gracious luncheon, door prizes, vendor fairs, and fellowship with others who care about our children and their books.
New this year is a featured musician as a part of our program. José-Luis Orozco sings about life in our bilingual classrooms, drawing upon the rich heritage of our Spanish-speaking communities. This conference promises to deliver something for all of us in classrooms around North Texas, and beyond. http://www.joseluisorozco.com/
