Music

With a passion for performance, the Department of Music provides a rigorous academic experience and fosters intellectual curiosity, creativity and aesthetic awareness while refining and expanding skill development through performing, teaching, conducting and composing music.

The Department of Music offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education and Performance. All music students have many opportunities to participate in studio recitals and master classes with their applied teachers as well as nationally recognized guest musicians. All music majors participate in either the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Chorale or University Singers. Placement in any of these ensembles is by audition at the beginning of each semester. Participation in these ensembles is also open to non-music majors by audition.
