2004 At Ft. Rucker, AL, I developed and taught 30 graduate level courses in safety and risk management, environmental and occupational law, and leadership. As a result, I graduated more graduate-level risk managers for the US Army than all other US colleges and academies combined between 1999 and 2004.

Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), College Station, TX. TEEX will develop training materials for employers and workers with minimum to moderate experience on fall hazards in the construction and maintenance of telecommunication towers. Materials will address the most dangerous tasks and job duties in the industry, identify hazards, and methods to abate those hazards; $195,718.
2003-Susan B. Harwood - OSHA Grant
Texas Engineering Extension Services (TEEX), College Station, TX. TEEX will develop training materials in a photo-example format on the most common or most dangerous safety and health hazards in land-based oil and gas field operations. More than 1,000 photos with color-coded borders and English or Spanish captions will help convey the message regarding hazard recognition. The photo training materials will supplement existing OSHA oil and gas well drilling and servicing e-Tool by showing hazards in more detail; $226,311.

Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), College Station, TX. TEEX will train high school Vo-tech teachers throughout OSHA Region 6 in the #500 Construction and #501 General Industry trainer courses so they can teach the 10-hour outreach versions to students in work/study programs. The 10-hour construction and general industry courses will be translated into Spanish. TEEX will provide 250 scholarships to teachers to attend the trainer courses; $312,034.

TEEX will make safety training more accessible to hard-to-reach non-English speaking construction workers in the residential construction industry. A one-year program to recruit and train experienced bilingual construction company employees and other qualified individuals to become authorized OSHA 500 construction outreach instructors will be implemented. The new trainers will conduct training for other construction workers. Training materials will be translated into Spanish. Geographical coverage: Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas; $200,000.
