Departmental Scholarship Criteria

Buddie & Debby Barnes Scholarship

  • A&M-Commerce undergraduate students majoring in Construction Science or Engineering
  • Overall GPA of 2.25 or higher in order to apply for and maintain this scholarship
  • Academic performance, department involvement, commitment level to the degree program, and the number of registered hours will be considered in the selection of qualified candidates
  • Recipients are required to send the donor a thank you note

Associated General Contractors (AGC) Endowment

  • A&M-Commerce undergraduate technology students (Construction Science or Technology Management)
  • Academic performance, department involvement, commitment level to the degree program, and the number of registered hours will be considered in the selection of qualified candidates

J.G. Grove Memorial Endowment

  • A&M-Commerce undergraduate students majoring in a degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering & Technology
  • Academic performance, department involvement, commitment level to the degree program, and the number of registered hours will be considered in the selection of qualified candidates
  • Preference given to students demonstrating financial need

James K. Ward Memorial Trust

  • A&M-Commerce undergraduate students majoring in a degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering & Technology

D. C. & Mildred Darst Caughran Engineering & Comp Science Endowment

  • A&M-Commerce undergraduate students majoring in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

American Electric Power Engineering. Endowment

  • A&M-Commerce undergraduate students majoring in engineering
  • Must be registered for a minimum of 12 hours (full-time equivalent)
  • Academic performance, department involvement, commitment level to the degree program, and the number of registered hours will be considered in the selection of qualified candidates
  • Selection shall be based on a student's ability to succeed in the demanding field of engineering, but consideration will be given to students who are either employees, children or grandchildren of employees or retirees of a company within the American Electric Power Company System (e.g., Southwestern Electric Power Company, Public Service Company of Oklahoma or AEP Texas)

Atmos Energy Endowment

  • A&M-Commerce undergraduate students majoring in a degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering & Technology
  • Junior or senior classification
  • Demonstrate past or current involvement in community service programs
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in order to apply for and maintain this scholarship
  • Academic performance, department involvement, commitment level to the degree program, and the number of registered hours will be considered in the selection of qualified candidates

Tom H. Taylor Memorial Endowment ($500)

  • Qualified transfer students
  • Must major in an undergraduate degree from the Department of Engineering & Technology
  • A minimum of 21 transfer hours, excluding developmental courses
  • Minimum GPA of 2.25
  • Successful completion of College Algebra or higher level mathematics prior to transfer, with the exception of Business Calculus (MATH 1324 and MATH 176)
  • Must take at least one departmental course during the semester when the award is made
  • Must take a minimum of 9 college-level credit hours during the semester the award is made
