Course Completion

Extended Studies must be completed within twelve months of the date of enrollment, but may not be completed in less than forty-five days, including final exam, for each three-semester hours of credit represented.
If the course is not completed within twelve months from the date of registration, it may be renewed for a one time, six-month extension upon the payment of a fee of $125.00. Failure to complete the course by the end of the six - month period will result in the course being terminated automatically. It will be your responsibility to keep up with your renewal deadline.
If the course is not renewed within ten days following the expiration date, exclusive of the time allowed for resident work, the course will be terminated.
There is no academic penalty for failing to complete an Extended Studies course; only completed courses are reported and recorded.
A student for whom a course has been terminated must register and must pay the full fee if he/she later decides to complete the course.
The registration fee will not be refunded after a course has been terminated.
Examinations
All examinations must be taken at a junior or senior college or university, under the supervision of the Director of Testing, counseling, Continuing Education, or similar administrator. An instructor cannot proctor an exam.
If the examination is taken under the supervision of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Extended Studies no exam fee shall be charged. If the examination is taken at another accredited college or university, a fee may be charged. The fee will be paid to the supervising official at the time of the exam. You must provide our office with the name, title, and address of the officer who will administer the exam. Use the Test Order Form in the back of this booklet for scheduling an exam on campus or off-campus. Remember, the officer must be connected with the Testing, Counseling, Dean’s, or Continuing Education Office. An armed forces education officer (for students in military service) or correctional education officer may proctor exams.
Important:
For scheduling a test at another site, allow 3 (three) weeks additional time to meet any deadline. Remember, we will not mail the exam or allow you to test in our facility until 100 percent of the lessons have been received in acceptable form, including projects, midterm exams (if any) or papers.
The final exam should be taken within one month from the date of the completion of the lessons. Extended Studies exam papers will be graded according to standards applied in grading semester exam papers of resident students. The grades of all students will be kept on the permanent record in the university records office. A grade report will be sent to the student upon completion of each Extended Studies course.
Don’t forget:
Bring a photo ID to the testing site. You will not be allowed to test without proof of identity.
To maintain the validity of the examination, no student, relative of the student or non-designated person will be allowed to participate in the issuance or return of your final examination. Students not adhering strictly to this policy risk losing credit for the course.
Testing Times:
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon AND 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
