Pathways to the Doctorate Fellowship Program

Pathways to the Doctorate is a program dedicated to increase the number, quality, and diversity of Doctoral graduates across all disciplines within the Texas A&M University System. The goal of the A&M-Commerce Pathways to the Doctorate Fellowship Program is to attract high achieving students within the Texas A&M University System to pursue their doctorate at A&M-Commerce.

In an effort to attract quality doctoral students from other System institutions, the A&M-Commerce Graduate School offers Doctoral Pathways Fellowships. Recipients of these fellowships will receive:

  • $3,000 per year for two years
  • One trip to present research results at a professional meeting

Recipients of this award are also eligible to compete for a $1,000 housing scholarship. Eligible participants are students who have earned either a bachelor's or a master's degree from one of the A&M System institutions (excluding A&M-Commerce) and plan to pursue a doctoral degree at A&M-Commerce.

To be considered for these awards, a student must be nominated by a doctoral granting academic department from A&M-Commerce.

Recipients of Pathways Fellowships must comply with the following requirements:

  • Enroll in at least 9 graduate credit hours throughout the course of the fellowship
  • Maintain academic good-standing status throughout the course of the fellowship
  • Make satisfactory progress toward graduation
