Future Student Checklist

1) Prepare for College:

College is the next big step in your academic journey. As you prepare for college, ensure that you continue to excel in your high school career. Most colleges including, Texas A&M University-Commerce require the completion of a high school curriculum which includes:

  • English (4 units): English I, II, III, and IV
  • Math (3 units): Algebra I and II; and any math higher than Algebra II
  • Lab Science (2 units): Biology, Chemistry, Physics
  • Social Sciences (3 units): Economics, Geography, Government, History, or Foreign Language

2) Take College Assessment Exams:

Texas A&M University accepts SAT or ACT scores. At A&M-Commerce, students are not penalized for taking the test several times. We accept your best total score for admission to the university. Plan to take these test early and as often as you would like to.

3) Consider Majors that interest you:

Begin to consider what field of study you want to enter into or an area of interest when considering attending A&M - Commerce. Take some time to research our programs and available resources just for you.

4) Explore Admission Requirements:

At Texas A&M University-Commerce you qualify for automatic admission if you meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Rank in the top 25 percent of your graduating class
  • Have a combined SAT score of 950 (Math and Critical Reading scores only)
  • Have a composite ACT score of 20

International Students: An International student is any degree-seeking student holding a non-immigrant student visa. Residents of foreign countries who wish to apply must meet SAT/ACT score requirements, provide proof of financial support and submit TOEFEL scores of at least 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT) or 79 (IBT).

7) Submit High School Transcripts: 

Freshman applicants must turn in their official high school transcript that is complete through the junior year, your class ranking, if available, and indicate recommended or distinguished high school program.

8) Important Information Regarding the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination:

During the last Texas State Legislation session, SB 1107 was passed and beginning with the spring 2012 semester, all new entering or re-admit students under the age of 30 at a public or private institution of higher education must provide evidence of vaccination against bacterial meningitis or a signed waiver declining the vaccination. For more information, click here

9) Complete Local Testing Requirements:
