The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships has offices in the Student Access and Success Center/One Stop Shop (903.886.5096). You may contact the office through email at Scholarships@tamu-commerce.edu.
Scholarships and Other Resources
Scholarships, and other resources (Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitation, Veterans Benefits, Exemption Waivers, and other gift aid), must be considered when you are awarded Financial Aid because the aid package cannot exceed the cost of attendance. It is important to let the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships know of any outside scholarship(s) you anticipate as well as other exemptions or waivers you may receive.
Also, the Student Loan Network provides a Free Online Scholarship Guide and eBook which can help you find more scholarships through the Internet.

First Year Leadership Class
The First Year Leadership Class (FLC) Program equips students with the personal leadership skills and education necessary to lead their class through the upcoming four years and creates a closer-knit Texas A&M University-Commerce community. FLC allows participants to take an active role in the campus and Commerce community. Although leadership is often defined by the offices one holds and the recognition one attains, FLC focuses upon leadership as taking the initiative to better one’s surroundings and being an agent of positive change on campus and beyond. FLC is a different take on a leadership class. It is not a series of lectures and you will never sit in a classroom. Rather, students enjoy a blend of fun, hands-on activities and eye-opening discussions. This is a competitive scholarship opportunity for our top student leaders that provides:
- $1,250 per semester (Fall/Spring of freshman year only) with 3.0 GPA or higher
In addition to the application, the following criteria will be considered:
- Minimum High School GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 80 on a 100 point scale
- Minimum scores of ACT 23 or SAT 1050 (SAT – combined Critical Reading and Math sub scores)
- Accepted to Texas A&M University-Commerce
- Must live on campus
- Evidence of high school excellence in both leadership and academics
- High school transcript
- 300-500 word essay defining leadership and how it applies to you personally
- 300-500 word essay on the ways that leadership in high school and college can prepare one to be a contributing member of society after college
- Resume highlighting your accomplishments, goals, organizations, interests and hobbies
- Two letters of recommendation are required. One must be from a school administrator or teacher. The other must come from someone in your community (Scout leader, pastor, civic club, or employer). These must be mailed from your references to the Coordinator of Leadership at PO Box 3011, Commerce, TX 75429.

Transfer Scholarships
Transfer students can be considered for two types of transfer scholarships, which include the General and Phi Theta Kappa programs. We offer scholarship programs which ensure that each student (international or out of state resident), who receives a competitive academic scholarship of at least $1000, will receive an out of state tuition waiver*. Students who begin in the spring semester, may not qualify for this tuition waiver. Funding is limited, so do not delay! You must be admitted and meet criteria to be considered for these and other scholarships.

How to be considered for a General Transfer or Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
-
STEP 1: You will need to submit your official college transcript(s) to the Office of Admissions (PO Box 3011, Commerce, TX 75429). Once this is received, your student file will be automatically reviewed for a transfer scholarship. If you are a Phi Theta Kappa member, official documentation stating that you are a Phi Theta Kappa member will need to be sent to the Admission Office. This will allow us to review your student file automatically for a possible Phi Theta Kappa scholarship award. The automatic review process does not guarantee that you will receive a scholarship offer since funding is limited so please apply early!
-
STEP 2: The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will notify applicants via their myLEO e-mail account, prior to the end of each semester, if a scholarship offer has been made.
-
STEP 4: If you have questions or concerns, please contact 903.886.5096 or e-mail Scholarships@tamu-commerce.edu.
