Guidelines for Faculty and Staff
Treatment Times
Faculty/staff will be seen on a walk-in basis, Tuesday-Friday from 8:20am to 10:20am. Students will continue to be seen during these hours as well. We will serve based on a first come, first serve basis, except in instances where acuity of illness deem necessary. Student Health Services has a limited number of same day sick appointment slots. Once these are filled, we reserve the right to send students, faculty, and staff elsewhere for treatment.
Use of Student Health Services
Faculty and staff may use SHS for acute, primary health care services including treatment of illness and injuries. We will not manage or diagnose chronic conditions for faculty/staff. We will not write refills for medications. Faculty/staff health should continue to be managed by their Primary Care Physicians. Student Health Services should only be used for one time, acute medical concerns.
Refusal To Provide Treatment
Faculty/staff will be screened as they check-in for the nature of their visit. If it is for a situation that falls outside the realm of “one time acute conditions” the patient will be sent elsewhere for treatment. If the provider deems the requests/needs of the patient outside the realm of “one time acute conditions” they may end the visit and refer the patient elsewhere for treatment. Abuse of Student Health Services by any faculty/staff will result in denial of future service to that faculty/staff member.
Treatment Cost
There will be a $15 charge to see the provider and additional charges for x-rays and lab work. Charges for x-rays and labs vary according to the service ordered. Faculty/staff need to be aware that we do not accept insurance in certain situations so it may be more cost effective for them to see their Primary Care Physician. Again, this varies on a case by case basis.
Payments
Upon the completion of your appointment you will need to pay fees incurred for services. We currently accept cash, Lion Cash, checks (with driver’s license/state issued identification card/passport, and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express).
Lab Results
Wait time for lab test results vary depending on the test performed. Faculty/staff will be notified via phone, text message, or e-mail when their lab results are ready.
Allergy Injections
Student Health Services will administer allergy injections to faculty/staff. Those who wish to have their injections given at the Health Center will need to bring their injections to the Health Center in Henderson Hall and have a release from their primary care physician or allergist. There will not be a treatment charge but there is a $10 charge each time an injection is given. Injections will be given between 8:15am-11:00am and 1:15pm-4:00pm.
Parking
There is a limited number of 30 minute parking places located directly in front of the Health Center, in Henderson Hall. We will not be responsible for tickets received if any one is parked for longer than 30 minutes. Faculty/staff parking and student parking is also located close to the front of Henderson Hall, behind the 30 minute parking spots.
Medical Records
Medical Records will be kept for ten years after the last date the patient was serviced by Student Health Services.
Student Health Services is in compliance with all federal and state guidelines regarding your medical records. Your medical record and the information you share with the doctors or staff is confidential. (Federal and State Guidelines)
